Remedies in New York magazine!

Yesterday was Remedies one month anniversary and I'm thrilled to say we were able to mark the occasion with a little write up in none other than New York magazine! I wasn't sure what to expect when I checked the website yesterday as it wasn't clear what section the piece would appear in, how long or short it would be, or indeed, what it would be about. As a brand new business owner, there was some trepidation - what if they really don't like the shop, or what if they misquote me, or what if no one reads it, or cares? Opening a business, especially at this time of year, is a daunting and scary endeavor, but so far it has been a joy to show up in this beautiful shop each day and breath in the sweet, spicy and floral scents of all the herbs and spices. And I'm happy to say New York magazine seems to like it as well. They featured several wonderful items that we carry and it was a reminder of how lucky I am to be doing the work that I love and offering high quality, often locally made products to this community, of which I've been a part for almost 20 years. And I'm so happy to support other small businesses who put their heart and soul into what they make and use nothing but the best ingredients in their creations. Whether it's the Urban Herbalist, a New York city fireman who came to herbalism by nursing an abandoned dog, left for dead at the firehouse, back from the brink of death; or Angela, the licensed medical technologist who has put her considerable scientific talents to making the most wonderful handmade soaps (her Alegna Activated Charcoal Soap has been my biggest seller so far); or Priya of Priya means Love skin care, who learned about herbs through her own personal journey to heal from chronic health issues; or Irina of Phoenix Botanicals who, like me, apprenticed with Robin Rose Bennett and went on to intern at Flower Power Herbs & Roots, and has now become the lip balm queen and is fast becoming a very talented perfumer; or my very own mother who makes the most adorable little herbal pillows - I can go on and on, but I'll stop there. I'm so appreciative of all of these people who are walking the walk and pouring their considerable talents into something we can all feel good about.
So after one month, thanks to everyone for the love and support! I look forward to serving the Carroll Gardens community, and the wider community, for many more months to come!
