Maker Spotlight: Antidote Apothecary
Elizabeth DeCoursey is the owner, maker, and designer behind Antidote Apothecary, close to home in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
She describes her apothecary as, “the answer to [her] healing instinct.” She was compelled to begin, as are several of our makers, by her own need for curative products for the “odd little [skin] ailments” she and other family members share.
Elizabeth’s brand promise says that every single thing with an Antidote label is made by hand, with no chemicals, and no harm to animals or the earth. All the ingredients are organic, and wild crafted when possible. Her ethos is one of equity, healing, and sustainability. Of her growing business she says, “I want to be sure that we maintain. Maintain it all.”
Cleansing grains are one of the most decadent, natural, and mild cleansing formulas you can possibly put on your skin. It contains flower petals, herbs, clay, oats and coconut milk which exfoliate and gently cleanse tender morning skin without the harshness of any soap. And Elizabeth's Stepping Out Cleansing Grains were chosen as one of the 'beauty products that changed our lives" by Elle Magazine!

There’s nothing better to take the edge off the holiday season rush than a nice, natural, soothing bath. Whether it’s relaxation or rejuvenation that’s called for, this gift set meets the needs of all bathers.
Each item in this gift is as organic as possible, without any GMOs, petro-chems, parabins, colorants, or animal testing. This set is available in two sizes, to accommodate natural beauty bathers on different budgets.
Maker Spotlight: Dr. Amikole's Shea Butter
Amikole first encountered shea butter at the age of 18 in the open air markets of Senegal. She was fascinated by its healing and moisturizing capabilities. Since her first marketing venture with shea in 1990, Amikole has developed an entire line of shea butter products that are sold to retail locations all over the country. Amikole’s customers have come to know her shea butters for their purity and the integrity with which they are produced.
While managing all aspects of her business, Amikole completed a Ph.D. program in Cultural Anthropology at New York University in 2009. Proudly, Amikole has added the title of Dr. to her new product labels and with the intention of assuring her customers that she is as serious about shea butter as she is about her academic aspirations.
Amikole's organic Shea Butter Salt Scrub, combines shea butter with organic Jojoba oil and spa quality Sea Salt. It moisturizes and reveals new skin through gentle exfoliation . Organic and wildcrafted essential oils of Lavender, Geranium, Melissa, and Moroccan Blue Chamomile nourish and revive the skin. Learn more.
Maker Spotlight: Alegna Soaps
A New York State licensed Medical Technologist took her love for chemistry, and taught herself to cold-press soap. We’re so glad she did, because Alegna soaps was born!
Born out of combined passions and a bit of empty nest syndrome, Angela, creator of Alegna, turned a beloved hobby into a successful business. If you’d like to hone your own soap-making skills, Angela teaches classes on Long Island.
Each soap in our gift set’s duo or trio is made with saponified organic oils of olive, coconut, palm, and shea butter.
Save yourself the headache. We’ve done the heavy lifting. If you’re in the neighborhood, please stop in! We’d love to wish you a happy season. If you can’t make it in, all our gift sets are available on the website.
