Mushroom Foraging Walk

Come on a mushroom walk with mycologist, farmer and forager Paul Lagrèze where he will cover collection, identification and cultivation of fungi for culinary purposes and holistic medicine.

Food As Medicine - Fermentation

Learn the basics of lacto-fermentation how to make a fermented beverage and vegetable to drink and eat.  You will see just how easy it is to ferment pretty much anything under the sun. We may even find things to ferment right there…I'm thinking dandelions, but we'll see what's available to harvest!

Fermentation is an ancient and magical practice and a direct way for you to fundamentally protest the System. By empowering yourself and perhaps your family you can easily regain access to a direct road from the Earth to Your Stomach. Making food from scratch, EASILY, takes your health and body out from under the thumb of agribusiness and big farming. We'll go over the countless benefits of living freely with the bacteria that outnumber our own DNA cells in the gut 10 to 1! We are not alone and we need a thriving bacterial flora to live. Cultivate your best flora simply by eating and drinking your way to optimal health and independence!

Herbs to Ease Stress & Anxiety

Many of us are feeling more and more pressure in our lives these days. In order to meet the challenges of modern life and the stress that comes with it, we could all benefit from a little help. Luckily for us, there are many easy to use and affordable herbs that can support us in with stress, anxiety, depression, and the body symptoms that go along with them. Herbal teas, infusions, tinctures, and vinegars all can lend us a hand with only "side benefits" instead of the side effects you would find if using pharmaceuticals. Many of the herbs we will be talking about are local, and you may spot them on the herb walk with Cheryl!

Natural First Aid Remedies
We’ll visit some of the wild healing plants where they grow in The Catskills, learn about their healing gifts, and make a multi purpose healing salve to take home!  Join Jo Anne to talk about some of her favorite local first aid remedies, what she keeps on hand at home, and what she carries in her purse It’s all very secret!  No it's not, but Jo Anne's workshop promises to be interesting, insightful, and entertaining!
New Moon Ceremony & Sacred Fire
Together we'll celebrate the New Moon in Cancer - the first New Moon of summer - in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. Cancer, the sign of the Universal Mother is the only sign of the zodiac ruled by the magical Moon. Join us as we celebrate this most lunar of all New Moons of the year. Together, we will create sacred ceremony in which we honor and give thanks to the Divine Feminine for all that she provides. Together we will set intentions to increase our emotional security and our ability to nurture ourselves. We will explore our relationship to home roots and ancestry and will send healing blessings backward and forward through time to our family tree. We will explore guided meditation to heal our relationship to the entire Mother principle. Join us for a nurturing evening of sacred nurturing Moon magic. Bring something that represents what you want healed and blessed in your life to be placed on the altar that we will create together. Cancer is the sign of the primordial oceanic womb. Together we will also send healing prayers and blessings to the sacred waters of the earth, from which all life sprang. We will also explore both the summer solstice chart, which occurs 3 days before our ceremony, and is the chart of the summer season, as well as the New Moon chart. We will explore the directives of each of these events. Come weave healing magic with us in a beautiful natural setting!

Healing Plant Identification Walk and Hands-on Herbal Medicine Making

We'll enjoy a leisurely walk as we learn to recognize, identify and harvest some of the abundant healing plants in the area, many of which grow down in the city too. You'll have time to gather plants that resonate with you and afterwards, we'll return to the house for herbal medicine making! You'll have the option to make either an herbal vinegar or tincture, or both if time permits. (for those who attended our gathering last fall, we will be seeing lots of different plants at this time of year, hopefully many of which will be in bloom).

Informative, relaxing, and healing weekend! *Amazing*

Posted by Marie on 9th Jul 2017

This weekend retreat was set in the gorgeous Catskills Mountains. The house was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The salt water pool was refreshing. I learned life-changing information about herbs, fermenting, and first aid that I am now using on a daily basis. Cherie is so smart and wonderful. All the guest speakers and workshops were incredibly insightful. The new moon bonfire ceremony was moving. I will definitely come back for another herbal weekend!
